Site Complete. Tomorrow, April 8, a FOOD BLOG will here appear.
My problem was: What can I possibly write about that is sustainable?
An online journal? I can definitely sustain that, given the new experiences I encounter on a daily basis. Yet, I've tried it (remember "hahanie.blogspot.com"?) and was not comfortable nor happy with how it turned out. Online diary-ing is so high school-ish, I think. Putting myself on a reader's shoes, its bearable to read only two types of autobiographies:
1. those of the popular and historic (for obvious reasons), and
2. those of teen agers - because their experiences and problems are both hilarious and entertaining (generally).
I am neither. I also have recently realized that sharing my experiences as an adult kind of poses security risks. And, it feels so inappropriate and desperate to blog about my life. THe whole world does not need to read about EVERYTHING that goes on with me since I am still a nobody (i know i will be a somebody though. haha!), neither does it need to be informed of ALL my thoughts and plans since not all of them are worth a nod. So no to an online diary.
If I make a travel blog, let's see:
1. San Marcelino
2. Nagtahan
3. Paco Market
4.....
5.....
6.....
Get my point? I haven't been to enough places to qualify myself as a travel writer. Maybe in the future. Right now though, my travel resume needs to be filled.
So a blog about food. I have such a passion for food and cooking, which is almost as much as my passion for writing. I could drool and go hungry just imagining what to cook for breakfast, lunch or dinner the next week. And I love bitching about restaurants' dishes when my version tastes waaaaayyyy better than theirs. My recipe bank is growing (thanks to my TWO moms - I am lucky to be influenced by one mom who is authentically tagalog, and my real mom who is a Zambuangena, a chavacano, to the bones) and I figured, why not share my deposits? Cooking secrets are meant to be shared. That way, more people's tummies and palates will be satisfied. A lot of problems can be solved by a full and happy stomach (e.g. a husband who's in a bad mood), you know? Therefore, this is my humble contribution to the world's fight for peace... a blog of guaranteed delish food...mostly Lutong Pinoy, but mish-mashed every now and then with food from all over.
Watch out April, I'll have the first recipe posted by then. For now, drool in anticipation y'all.
your hot cook,
hahan
P.S. Nothing fancy here. Expect food you actually know of, and would eat. :)
You won't believe how unbelievably simple and rewarding Pinoy cooking is. So, gather your cooking gear. Let's start the fire...
P.S.S. I call myself hot because I am running a slight fever today. So yes, that was literal. lol =D
